Deets: Monstera is a woody vine with huge, dark green leaves. The leaves, which may grow up to 3 feet wide, start out heart-shaped and develop holes as the plant matures. It's a popular houseplant because it’s generally unfussy and has few pests or diseases.
Name(s): Monstera, Monstera adansonii
Light: Monstera prefers indirect sunlight or sunlight filtered by a sheer curtain. It will take some direct sunlight, but not more than a few hours per day. Do not put it in direct sunlight right away as it’s getting acclimated to your home, because the leaves scorch easily.
Water: Water a Monstera plant until it runs out the bottom of the pot. Wait until the top few inches feel dry before watering again. Don't overwater, Monstera likes its soil a little on the dry side.
Grower: Beginners, all types.
Pet Friendly: No. This plant is toxic to pets.
